Joe Little loves to tell stories. Some take viewers as far away as Pakistan. Some are contained inside a dumpster. Joe is a visual storyteller at NBC 7 in San Diego. Joe is one of the rare news reporters who shoots, writes, and edits his own stories everyday by himself. His mantra: "If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it." It served him well as he moved across the country as a television news reporter and anchor in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and California.
Joe’s coverage of the 9/11 attacks is among his greatest accomplishments. He was four miles away from Shanksville, Pennsylvania when United Flight 93 crashed. Joe was one of the first reporters on the scene. His accounts are included in a book called Covering Catastrophe: Broadcast Journalists Report on 9/11.
Beyond telling a good story, Joe thrives at helping others perfect their craft. Joe has created his own curriculum to help broadcast journalists of all levels improve their storytelling, news gathering skills, and on-air performance. Joe’s knowledge has been included in textbooks, podcasts, and national conferences.
Joe received his master’s from Syracuse University in 1999. However, he credits George Mason University with building a strong foundation for his career. In 1998, he earned his BA in Speech Communication. While at Mason, Joe was a proud member of the Men's Basketball Team (Career Totals: 2 points, 3 rebounds). In 2010, the Mason Department of Communication and the College of Humanities & Social Sciences named him the Alumnus of the Year. He has garnered several national awards and 34 Emmys in his career. The father of two amazing sons is married to fellow NBC 7 reporter Audra Stafford.
Our Auctioneer- Christian Labertew
Christian Labertew began working as an auctioneer after the COVID pandemic had left many of the non-profits he grew up working with in financial turmoil. His early life was spent in Park City, Utah, where he worked to raise money and promote the Youth Theatre programs across Utah.
Christian graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with degrees in Theatre and Sport’s Media Studies. During his time at USC, he continued his work with nonprofits by serving as the philanthropy chair in multiple student groups on campus and working in the office of the president for events like convocation and commencement.
After attending one of the nation’s leading auction schools and shadowing Anna and Clint, Christian is thrilled to join the team!
